editor

My name is Brittany Dowdle, and I help turn promising manuscripts into great books. Since 2011, I’ve been providing authors and publishers with professional editing services. I bring the same level of professionalism and skill to my publishing clients and private authors, while understanding their distinct needs.

An Eclectic Knowledge Base

I specialize in a select grouping of genres and subject matter, including speculative fiction (science fiction, urban fantasy), historical fiction, mysteries (police procedural, historical, cozy), romance (multicultural, historical, contemporary), adventure, women’s fiction, YA, literary, and distinctive nonfiction. I also enjoy editing contemporary translations for American audiences.

Experience as an Independent Editor

For over twelve years I’ve provided copyediting, proofreading, and cold reading for authors and publishers, including members of the Big Five. I’ve worked on over two hundred fiction and nonfiction titles, many of which are award winners and bestsellers. See PORTFOLIO
